Bacon Collaborative Design Engineering, Inc. (BCDE, Inc.) is a Design and Engineering firm located in Truckee, California. BCDE, Inc. is the successor firm to Shelton & Associates, which was founded in 1979 by David Shelton. The current principal of BCDE, Inc. is Eric Bacon, who is responsible for the day-today operation of the business. All told, we have been involved with the design or analysis of over 3000 projects in the Sierras and Lake Tahoe area.
Our specialty is new and remodeled residences and small commercial buildings. In an area where structure and design are intertwined, BCDE, Inc. offers the services of a professional engineer and licensed designer. Our projects have included everything from modest remodels of just a few square feet to the most opulent residences of up to 16,000 square feet and everything in between. We offer our clients a full range of services including civil and architectural engineering, residential and commercial design, agency processing and advice, BMP design, computer drafting/modeling, energy calculations, preparation of specifications, site plan preparation, contractor referral, bid and contract assistance, and construction observation. |

ABOUT THE OWNER
|
Eric is a longtime Truckee local who has lived in the region since the age of two. He grew up immersed in the construction industry, working at an early age with his father, who is a licensed contractor and licensed surveyor. Strong ties to the community kept him close during his college years; he attended the University of Nevada, Reno for his engineering degree and worked his way through college by framing houses, surveying, and giving cross-country ski lessons. Eric began working as an engineer for Shelton & Associates in 2000, and bought the firm in 2007. From 2007 to 2014 the firm was operated as Shelton & Bacon. The firm was incorporated in 2014 as Bacon Collaborative Design Engineering, Inc.

Bacon collaborative Design Engineering Inc. offers a complete residential design service under one roof. We have a licensed residential designer and licensed civil engineer in house. We do everything necessary to obtain a building permit with the exception of boundary surveys and geotechnical investigations (should you need either one, contact us for more information). Our ability to complete the entire project in-house adds value by eliminating costly communication errors and delays between separate consultants.
